Maverick drivers side exhaust manufold
I ended up running single exhaust, so I did not use the Maverick manifold.
I sandblasted it and painted with Eastwood stainless steel exhaust paint.
It's for sale if you know anyone wanting one.
$65 plus shipping

64 Comet 404 Gas cap
Does anyone know where to get a 64 Comet 404 Gas cap?
Apparently it's a vented cap. My tank does not have a breather vent tube, should it have one?

Tailight lens refresh
I have a 64 Comet. New Tailight lenses are crazy expensive. I have polished plastic lens b4 with good success. However these are partially bleached and some crazin (fine cracks but not thru) I was considering polishing the centers where the light comes out and then put a light mist coat of red (mayb...

Re: 64 404 2 dr aluminum trim and more
The cast to rechrome and anodize everything is prohibitive with a car of such low price potential. Probably save me approx $2500-3000 or more considering shipping etc. And what do you do if they loose or damage one of your rare pieces ?? I've heard a few horror tales. has anyone else had rechrome an...

64 404 2 dr aluminum trim and more
My trim is pretty straight - all usable - wow lots of trim on a 404. Some pieces have parking lot minor dings. This is a budget rebuild so anodizing or chrome plating is not being considered. Also chrome on pot metal pieces a little weak (only minor pits). Tailight panels have a few dings on edges t...

64 Fender bolts
Getting ready to reassemble after painting. I painted fenders not on the car. 1. Are fender bolts along edge of hood usually painted body color? i guess the cars were painted assembled? 2. Are these bolts the ones with a separate serrated washer (non removable) or should these bolts be the ones with...

Re: Gas vs. Gas-less Mig Which is better for body
I now have access to a gas-less mig welder for my inner rocker and floor pan repair. Is gas-less ok to use for this or do I need to be looking for a gas mig welder. Opinions and experience welcome. In my experience the flux core welding method does not work well on thin body sheet metal. Also it le...

64 Comet side letters on washboard trim
I need to redo my washboard side trim and have to remove the Comet letters. They are riveted on it seems. I guess just grind rivet heads and reattach with ?? JB Weld ?? Maybe weatherstrip adhesive?? or ?? My washboards have enough dings I think the only thing to do is slick them out with body filler...

1964 260 oil dipstick
Just rebuilt my 1964 260 I put 4 qts and primed the engine. The dipstick reads about 1/4 " over full. The oil dipstick I have measures 22 1/8" to full mark from edge of shoulder at top of dipstick. the shoulder adds another 3/8" when pushed all the way in for a total of 22.5" to full. The dipstick t...

How many qts for fresh rebuild. new torque converter also.
I don't think dipstick is original so I can't trust it.
Thanks

Missing Neutral Safety Switch 64 Comet
I have 64 Comet factory 260, C4 It was an original car that I am taking apart to restore. When removing the wiring harness there was no Neutral Safety Switch on the trans (and no wire to the trans) or the outer steering column. I became convinced maybe it was internal to the steering column. I disas...

260 heads on 289 block
My 1964 260 spun 2 rod and a main brg
Found a nice standard 1964 289
Just making a cruiser.
I guess the 260 heads will work except they will raise compression about .5 over the 260.
I was gonna use all the other 260 parts, intake, carb, exhaust man etc.
Any comments?
