Re: poboyjos ride
John, Nice job on the ac install. Noticed you shared the ac and ps pump on the same belt. I've done that on two different cars and it works real well and saves room on the front of engine. I also added a hood lock similar. Though I no longer have the ps pump since I installed the eps, removed the pu...

Re: Firewall Insulation Pad
Heater boxes are pretty much the same. If a firewall insulator pad is not listed or available, one for early falcons would most likely be the same or close enough to be altered to fit.

Re: Doug tri y headers
Call Dougs not Doug thorley, two different companys. Dougs is Pertronix. They several models that will fit your comet as they fit falcons as well. Ask for Don as he can advise you best.

Re: rear sway bar
No doubt! Thanks for the pics...looks like you used the axle bumper mounting holes for the end links? I fab'd my own brackets that are bolted to the frame to connect the end links to. Fab'd my own end links. It actually didn't take that long to grind down them down. Bench grinder for what i could r...

Re: rear sway bar
Ron - Where did you find a 1/2” rear bar?? At the time the only 1/2" rear sway bar I could find was for about a 69 mustang which was too wide. So I made my own. What I did was took another front sway bar same as my front off another ranchero and cut it down to 1/2". How did i do that you ask! With ...

Re: rear sway bar
A 3/4" rear sway is too large for a 5/8" front bar. There is a balance between the two. Too much stiffness in the rear will give you oversteer. 3/4" would work well with the 1 1/8" front. Get the right ratio between the two and you get neutral handling no understeer and no oversteer. I run the stock...

Re: 65 DASH CLUSTER IN 64
The mustang speedo will fit right in in place of the comet speedo. I used the mustang speedo in my 65 comet cluster as I had whiteface overlay decals that were made for the mustang cluster. It all fit and works.
If the cluster attachment tabs are in the wrong place you could weld on new tabs.

Re: Speedometer cable for 63 with 302 & AOD
Without checking my notes I believe I used the 60" speedo cable in my 65 ranchero which goes to the front of the tailhousing same as a 3 speed ot auto trans. I even had a little extra cable which i had to make bigger loop to keep from kinking it anywhere. Should still fit an AOD which is just a few ...

Re: solder vs crimping
I have a couple of the Thomas & Betts crimpers which are very good for what they do. Makes a much better crimp than the first one lou posted. I have one of those too but the only thing it's good for is the screw cutter holes and the wire stripper. There are some better crimpers which are ratchering ...

Re: Wiring ideas for your car
To run wires into the doors I used the harness as used in mustangs with the pony interior for the door lights and speakers. No speakers in my doors but I have the comet/mustang style door lights and the electric door locks all incorperated into that harness. It's sealed at both ends of the tube that...

Re: solder vs crimping
Most automotive harnesses no matter who don't usually have any solder connections because all terminals are crimped or firmly attached to the wires by the co who fabs the harnesses. I have built and fab'd so much over the years that soldering is second nature to me. I know the ribbed sleeving is eas...

Re: solder vs crimping
I ordered wrapping tape from npd. Comes in two widths, 3/4" and 1 1/4". I usually use the 3/4" as it's similar to what ford used. And is easier to work with. https://www.npdlink.com/store/products/wrap_tape_wire_harness_3_4_inch-106731-0.html I knew, someone makes the connectors with solder already i...

Re: gas tank vent
Fred said his has no vent only a vented cap. The 65 and I assume the 64 ranchero/wagon and sedan delivery didn't have a vent only a vented cap. I'm not surprised the comets were the same way. Fred jusr comfirmed his was the same. The early falcons up to through 63 did have a vent but ford eliminated...
