Re: Idling issue
I did what you said Pop and engine died right away. So that is good. I went back and reset the timing with an analyzer and light. It was a couple degrees off. Seems to run real good now. Of course the temperature dipped down here in GA the last couple days. The mild popping coasting down a hill is g...

Idling issue
I need some help guys and gals. I have a 64 Comet. A couple years ago, I sent Motorcraft 1100 carb out under recommendation of a link on the forum. Great work, carb came back anodized and perfect. I also have installed pertronix electronic ignition. Seemless install. I have always had an idling issu...

Re: 64 Comet Hot Start problem....
So I adjusted the float a while back and it seemed to fix the problem for a while. I have had to go back into the carb 3 times and adjust that float a knat's ass. Last night I went to drive into town and the darn thing flooded out. And in all these references when I say flooded, I mean gas on the bl...

Re: 64 Comet Hot Start problem....
Thanks for the input. I adjusted the float and I'll report back my findings as I drive it more. I just ordered some new tires too as one of the oldies finally threw a radial on my test drive!! It's always something and they were on borrowed time anyway. I've had to make some mixture adjustments to k...

64 Comet Hot Start problem....
I did a quick search on the site and didn't see any info on hot start problems. I have 64 Comet. I had my carb totally overhauled here a year ago by KP carbs on recommendation and I highly do the same. Fantastic. Here is the link to his site. http://www.kpcarbs.net/home.html. Also, I installed Pertr...

Re: Barrel nuts for 64 Mercury Comet 202
Man I swear I searched ebay for barrel nuts with sealant. I must have overlooked these because it was a package of so many......... I'm sorry for troubling you guys and appreciate both options. I'm on it.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Barrel nuts for 64 Mercury Comet 202
Hey ya'll, I just need some opinions because I don't want to lose these emblems. I am resecuring the comet letters on the rear quarter panels of my comet. Previous owner pulled them all so they didn't get lost. Which one of these look right to my fellow comet owners? Thanks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/...

Re: New Carburetor for 64 Mercury Comet 202 with 6cyl 170.
Hey ya'll. I wanted to follow up on this post with my outcome. I took previous advice and sent my original autolite 1100 carb up to Kurt at KP carbs and he did a bang up job on mine. I plopped it on the intake and it fired up within a couple turns of the engine. It came back beautiful and freshly an...

Re: New Carburetor for 64 Mercury Comet 202 with 6cyl 170.
Wow thanks for the responses. It would be nice to hang on to my original carb and have it rebuilt. That price is pretty reasonable too......plus warranted for as long as you own your car. Nice.

Re: "Hot Spark" electronic ignition
For what it is worth....The module I had was bad. I can't tell you how many hours I wasted messing with the Hot Spark unit. I sent it back and they gave me a no hassle refund or replacment. I opted to get a refund. The guys there were nice about it and said "they usually work right away". Yesterday ...

New Carburetor for 64 Mercury Comet 202 with 6cyl 170.
Hey folks, I have a 64 Comet 202 with 6cyl 170 cu in. I just installed Pertronix electronic ignition and it is fabulous. Now on to other matters. Re: "Hot Spark" electronic ignition
I definitely am going to call them. It's one of those......I want to drive my Comet things ya know!! I feel like there is something obvious that I am not doing. I have watched videos and the installers are "bing, bang, boom, bada bing!" and the car is up and running. I'm really boggled. I feel like ...

Re: "Hot Spark" electronic ignition
When the resistor inline, I am getting about 9 volts.... Without, a good 12 volts. It calls for normal 12.5 or so input voltage. With engine rev'd up a bit with normal points, I generated about 14 volts so I figured I needed a ballast resistor as instructed. I purchased a Duralast® (Autozone) LU800 ...
