Re: T5 Crossmember
ETA - I just called FalconParts.com & they measured their C4/AOD crossmember for me...from center of frame mounting bolt hole to top of flat part where mount would sit is 3-inches. On the x-member I've got, it's between 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 inches. Big difference. I measured & looks like it'll work about...

Compression test on the 1971 Torino 302 the prior owner claimed was rebuilt (no receipts). Looks like he wasn't lying!:

Re: Headliner
Well, I don't have anything above the rear side windows either. I'm not sure how much that means since my car has not had a headliner since I bought it, though.

Re: Headliner
I think I was confused on my original answer. I was talking about the rear window as in the one above the trunk. From your pics it looks like you mean the rear seat side windows. My headliner is currently out, so I will check my own 404 when I get home and get back to you about whether I have any pi...

Re: Headliner
I have not replaced my (missing) headliner yet in my 1965 404, but I can see pieces of the headliner sticking out from the rear window trim. I believe I have heard that you must actually remove the rear window and install the headliner, then re-install the rear window in order to hold the headliner ...

I must have missed both of those, I usually check craigslist a couple of times each weekday while at work.

Re: what did you do to your comet today?
1.) Switched out the oversized radiator overflow hose that was leaking at the bottom of my catch can. Now my car won't puke coolant unless it actually overheats! 2.) Measured my leaf springs and found I have what I believe are Mustang springs (22" front, 31" rear) rather than Comet springs (22" fron...

Re: Radiator question
No worries, I jacked my own thread when I switched from radiator questions to vacuum questions. I'm not that experienced with my Comet yet so I really don't mind going off on tangents.Matty wrote:Sorry to Jack your thread.

Re: Radiator question
Good point. When I opened it up the other day I did see what looked like a few small rocks inside the radiator. No idea what they are or how they got there.poboyjo65 wrote:but put some rust in there,

Re: Radiator question
From what I have read, there should only be a difference at idle anyway. If you go WOT, then there is little vacuum with either method. If you are at part throttle, then both manifold and ported should be pulling the same, right? I wish I had been more scientific-minded when I was playing with my co...

Re: Radiator question
Thanks for the info guys. Anyone have any cooling problems with a radiator that has both inlet and outlet on both sides? Mine ran hot (220) last summer (here in FL) at stoplights, until I changed my mixture to about 80% water and switched to manifold vacuum on my distributor, which got it down a bit...

Radiator question
My 1965 comet was originally a 6 cylinder car, and it still has an original-looking radiator. The radiator has the inlet and outlet both on the passenger side, is that correct for the 6 cyls? The car was given a 302, so the radiator might have been replaced as well (the 302 has the pump inlet and T-...
