Re: Tire size
I changed over from my original 13 inch 5 lug tires. Using a tire size calculator, I found that the 205/60R15, yes 15's were within a 1/4 inch of the original 13 tire circumference. So no speedometer difference. Costco can get you BF Goodrich 205/60R15's and they do fit just fine. Here's the look o...

Re: Ford Six Performance Parts
Looks like someone took over some of the products Classic Inlines were carrying http://www.vintageinlines.com/#!valve-covers/qzift See Ya, Mike Wow, I thought Will was buying the old stock but seems like a guy named Matt Cox did if the blog is correct? Not sure who that is over on fordsix, but it's...

Re: WTB 1963 MERCURY Comet badges, passenger door trim, misc
Are you looking for nice stuff or decent stuff to rechome or have straightened and polished? Either kind, really. I found the badges, now my main thing I'm looking for is the passenger door trim for a 63 2 door. Aside from that, the mercury man gas cap would be nice but I see those on eBay pretty o...

Re: Just put a Holley 800 marine carb on.
Ok. I know some people are going to bash me and that's completely okay. I don't typically follow trends and that's how I get my jollys. My previous carb was holley 600. The vacuums secondaries just didn't seem to be keeping up with my combo so.... I got a 800 cfm Marine carb despite what everyone s...

Re: Drag strip tomorrow!
Well I will point out my car isn't getting out of the hole like a normal car my eighth mile time is pretty poor. I will also point out I don't have a tach and completely guessing. Also I have a 24 in tire. You should be even higher up the RPM range then, so that would mean your gearing is fine more...

Re: Drag strip tomorrow!
4th. Don't know the rpm but guessing probably 3k If you have a 373 gear it's gotta be turning more than 3 grand at the end, doesn't it? :? Calculator online has him at around 4300 with a 27" tire and a 1.00:1 trans ratio (4th for mustang t-5)/3.73 rear at 93 mph. That would mean he should be so-so f...

Re: Drag strip tomorrow!
That would be an issue, also sounds like you might need some more gear. If you're going for good times you'll want to be crossing the lights near your power band (around 4500-5500 peak with that combo on the 302 I believe).Matty wrote:1st gears spins really bad. Gonna get some better tires soon.

Re: 351 Windsor stroker
The newer holley xp is supposed to be one of the best out there, but I think QF and some others make good carbs as well. I've been on the fence on what to build for my comet. I originally wanted to boost a 200, but after hearing them I think they sound a little... unfavorable for my tastes when the...

my cousin has a monster windsor engine,a 420 something, big horsepower7-8 hundred.when my uncle built my fe he asked if i would rather have a windsor,at the time all i could think about was my 428 big block.looking back i could have gotten a big hp small block for the same money.but that dont mean i...

Re: Drag strip tomorrow!
Well ran we 14.3 at 95. Kinda of odd that ran a 14.6 at 95 while I missed 2nd gear the other day. Didn't have any issues. Started to shim the secondaries with zip ties and gained. Definitely switching to mechanical secondaries and getting a carb spacer. Kinda let down. I will get though. What gear ...

Re: 64 Comet drag car - Hot Rod photos
Cool article, I've always wondered if there was an advantage to having the front end of the car that high up in the air. Is it just to clear the front axle or what's the deal with that?
I like how the referred to the comet as "pedestrian".

Haven't put one on myself, but knew a guy up in MA when I was still in the navy that had a tag on his jeep that read "MMM GAS".
