168 tooth flywheel and starter
I have a 65 HI Po 289 and it has a 168 tooth flywheel. NOT 164. what is the inside and outside diameter of the ring gear? Does it take a special starter? I read that some 289 hipo s used the 168 for a while then went to the 164. Can I replace the 168 with a 164 without problems. My flywheel part num...

65 speedometer routine with 4 speed top loader
Can anyone advise me of the correct routing of the speedo cable on a 65 with top loader trans.?
All the parts mags says it takes 82" but I have a lot left over so think I may be wrong in the routing.
A picture would help. send to my email. rskaggs1@cvalley.net
thanks

Re: how many were made?
I have researched what I could and looks to be about 80 Cyclones and about 8 of the 404 and maybe 2-3 of the 202.
Any different ideas?
thanks for the responses

how many were made?
I have a 65 Comet 404 2dr sedan. Factory HP 271 horse, 4 speed, 9 inch rear, factory medium blue metallic, black bench interior, white headliner. Can anyone tell me how many of these were made? I read where about 90 total Comets were equipped like this, but curious how many 404's, and how many were ...

Re: flywheel/starter combo
I managed to get the starter that was on the car when last running (1978) on by loosening the header and grinding the started post down. Problem solved. By the way, the 168 tooth flywheel was for the Hi Performance engines. I have a spare block (66) out of a Hi Po and it also has the 168 tooth. than...

flywheel/starter combo
I have a 65 Comet 404 with a 289 Hi Po with the original 168 tooth flywheel. Does it require a special starter. I don't want to put the wrong one on and grind off some of the ring gear.

thanks to all who responded. that is a lot to process.
I just got it back from the paint shop, so will try to post some pics as I progress with the build. The paint work turned out fantastic.

wheel size
I have a 65 Comet 404 with 289 HiPo, I am wanting to put larger tires and wheels on the rear. I am going with steel (stock looking) wheels. What is the max size of 14 & 15 inch rims (what offset), and tires for each that can fit without any modifications? I like the look of the Sole Survivor Comet b...

Re: seat covers and door panels
I checked with the same vendor. I found several vendors who make them for the hardtops and ragtops, but no the 404 2 dr. some say they can make them "close to original". Found one place in Oregon with fabric, but he is way out there on prices and a couple of locals gave him less than stellar reviews...

seat covers and door panels
Can anyone tell me where I can buy a set of seat covers front and rear and door panels front and rear? I have a 65 404 2 dr sedan. All pieces are black vinyl. If not, will a 65 Falcon covers and panels fit my seat frames and doors? If you have a black front seat cover for same vehicle in very good s...

Re: new member from Missouri
It is a true HI PO. Special DSO order in Jan 1965 from a local dealer, who remembers the order as the original owner was the parts manager. It has the bolt in shipping brace, heavy duty suspension, larger brakes, blow proof bell housing, top loader, larger drive shaft, narrowed 9" rear end. Everythi...
