Re: Caltracs Help
couldn't you just measure them eye to eye along the bottom & tell them what you have? Falcon has a different wheel base than comets, so probably different for all years. are yours 2.5'' wide like later comets? no mine are still just the 2" units like what the early falcons used, every spring compan...

Caltracs Help
I just had a not so nice conversation with one of the folks over at caltracs who told me that apparently all 60-65 comets used the same rear suspension setup, now i informed him nicely that the 60-63 were different than the 64-65 which he denied and said if that were the case they wouldnt be selling...

Re: Non power steering?
no other than the lack of PS assist there is no detriment to what you wanna do, however I would take the pump off altogether If I was in your shoes, but you might find that trying to turn when barely moving or stop is hard as the PS boxes have a lower ratio like 12:1-16:1 vs the 20:1 or higher of a ...

EARLY VS OLD SPINDLES AND CONTROL ARMS?
So I have a 62 Comet and I was replacing the suspension about 2 years back and the got a set of 63 spindles that required the larger upper ball joint so I bought a set of 64-66 style mustang/falcon/comet control arms and used the standard post 62 lowers which are the same as the mustang units, after...

Re: 1962 Comet Build Thread
Has anyone done the Shelby drop on a Comet? I am thinking the drop works for these early Comets but wondering how much of a difference it makes. Any input is appreciated. I did the shelby drop on my car, the stance didnt really change that much but i also replaced springs at the same time, it does ...

62 Comet Subframe Connectors
Other thans Crites I haven't been able to find anyone that has a set of subframe connectors that would fit a 62 Comet. I see the tubular set from Global West Suspension for a Falcon, is there any reason those wouldn't work on a Comet? The front connection is boxed in and the rear is a L bracket http...

Re: NEED CARB HELP!
Well according to the aftermarket gauge I had mounted under the dash it was reading 240 degrees after a few minutes, but thinking something was off, I used an infrared thermometer to test my theory and I was infact only running 180 degree and much have an air pocket around that sensor  also i ...

Re: New Clutch Chatter
Its a brand new clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel, new motor mounts, the idle was a little high at first but I got it fixed and its about 900 RPM or so, im pretty sure its rear end ratio cause the clutch doesn't slip or chatter once its moving, I might have to accelerate the time frame for when I...

New Clutch Chatter
I finally figured out the high idle on my comet, and got to test drive it and its got a clutch chatter on take off, I cant notice it once moving but it makes we worry that theres something wrong with the clutch, but it dawned on me that the rear in this car is very high geared 2.73 in fact. Im wonde...

NEED CARB HELP!
Alright folks, im pulling my hair out over here, i got everything put together on my comet after the v8 swap and got the car to roar to life, but it wants to idle reallllll high about 3000-3200 rpm, the engine is a blueprint motor and it came with a 600cfm holley 4160 mounted to it when i purchased ...

Re: Welding Exhaust
No need to change anything to weld aluminized, it just sounds different but will weld just the same as regular steel. Lap joints are typically easier to weld than butt joints with less worry for burn through, and the extra reinforcement of the pipe is a big bonus. In other words weld away!

Re: looking to buy 144 or 170 for 61 Comet
I have a complete 170 sitting in my garage in nebraska with all the goodies on it, 1.6 rockers, HEI based distributor, powergen system, Stainless dual outlet header,i refreshed the motor about 2 years ago with rings gaskets bearings etc. and it only had roughly 1500 miles on it before i pulled it to...

Re: 1962 Comet Build Thread
I appreciate the response, i was going to use those originally but was worried about the strength of the L bracket specifically, but depending on how the current setup works in the car i might be converting to those anyway

Re: 1962 Comet Build Thread
Hey Darryl, Good to see another 62 on the forum, did you end up using the 3 piece conversion mounts? Im curious as to how well they work, i fought the set of single bushing mounts i got from Total Control Products for the better part of 2 days and it still seems like it might be in at a tweaked angl...

Total Control Products Engine mounts
How many of you have had experience with the total control products engine mounts i got their no adjustable units, and was attempting to install the 302 into my 62 and was having some header clearance issues and it looked like there could be some issues with firewall / bellhousing clearance. Has any...
