The heads wouldn't clear the towers in mine, without a doubt. Changing plugs in this one is tough, I couldn't imagine the big C heads.

My '65 has a 351w. The towers haven't been cut but it is tighter than a banjo string to change plugs. For all the headache and hassle you're better off to stay in the 289/302 family. No - that's the arm the rod connects to, though. There's a primary side rod on ebay, dang it. Sooner or later I figure I'll run across one, or find a cheap parts carb. Hoping to just find that rod for now - want to rebuild the carb, but need it to be complete first. Thanks for posting that up.
