I agree with everyone else. No doubt the LS series are great motors, but then so are the Small block Fords. Build a SBF right and it'll make just as good of power as an LS. If you have to have an LS find an Nova.

Sounds like you've got a pretty well put together plan. Those years of Explorers make great donors. The engines last forever, thanks to modern oil and precision fueling.
