Re: 1965 Comet 202 project

I just got finished replacing the 1g alt with a 3g 135 Amp alt. Ron....was that just because "bigger is better", or did you have a need for the additional power? Anything to do with the EPS? Jim It was partly because I was adding the eps which can draw up to 40 amps at max draw. I was concerned the...

Re: MSD dizzy cap problems

Check the spring contact on the rotor to make sure it's not putting too much pressure on the carbon button. Shouldn't be much pressure. Or something wrong with the rotor.

Re: 1965 Comet 202 project

Awesome, thanks for all the info & great pics! After doing more research my plan is to get a 50 oz dampener with the 3 bolt pattern so I can use all original style single groove pulleys. The new production chrome ones are the cheapest, I would rather have black but if it saves me money I won't be t...

Re: 1965 Comet 202 project

Thanks for the info Ron, mine is the 4 bolt 50 oz dampener, I think there are enough conversion parts out there that I should be able to find a single groove pulley setup that works. I might look for a kit so I know the pulley depths will match. I like the idea of roller rockers, any particular set...

Re: 1965 Comet 202 project

I have found 3 bolt pulleys are more plentiful and easier to find then 4 bolts. Easier to go all 3 bolt.

Re: SBF Rear Sump Oil Pan (Fox Body?)

I have a new double sump pan with pickup that came on my crate motor which I will never use. Probably not what you are looking for and may not be of any use to you but have it if it can be used by someone. Got a water pump and flywheel too.

Re: 1965 Comet 202 project

As John mentioned the 3 groove pulley can be too long, I found that out when i was building mine. So I just used a 2 groove pulley, then ran ac and ps off of one belt to save room and it all fits. Yours should have a 4 bolt dampener with 50 oz imbalance. They make dampeners for 3 and 4 bolt pulleys ...

Re: Speedometer cable for 63 with 302 & AOD

That's a big jump from 64" to an 80" cable. That's a lot of extra cable to reroute so there will be no hard turns or kinks. Add some graphite lube to the 64" cable and the jumping may stop. I have found sometimes the internal cable that rotates can sometimes be just 1/16 - 1/8" too long which makes ...

Re: Speedometer cable for 63 with 302 & AOD

The 64" cable should be a good fit for the AOD. When I installed the SROD in my 65 ranchero the cable i used was 60". Part no. 400320 from Autokrafters. 65 ranchero and the comets should have similar dimensions since they shared the same basic body. Here's one that fit 60-65 falcon 3 spd and auto. A...

The auto 64 should do it.

Re: Speedometer cable for 63 with 302 & AOD

The cable was never connected to this trans. It was for the 6 cyl engine and manual trans If the your manual trans has the speedo port on the drivers side then a cable for an auto or 3.03 3 spd which will be on the drivers side would fit. Only if it were on the pass side whould you need the longer ...

Re: Speedometer cable for 63 with 302 & AOD

If the speedo cable previously connected to the trans on the drivers side then you should be good for length. Some have an issue with the cable running right where the crossmember is. So they either drill a hole through the crossmember or notch it. Another possibility is get a right angle adapter to...

Re: what did you do to your comet today?

Fred's not afraid to take Sassy wher he needs to. Like him I hope to get a hitch I bought and modified to fit on Comechero for the day it may be needed. No immediate plans but would be nice to have that capability. Have a hitch made for a late model Lincoln that will be an easy mod to fit and strong...

We didn't take over his thread, he asked a question and we answered it. Everyone does it all the time but i guess that is only good enough for you and others. If I add my comments I'm wrong or out of line. Kind if two-faced attitude isn't it??
