Re: Flow rate 2v intake vs 4v intake

New lifters on old cam (assuming the cam is ok) is fine...not the opposite though. Yeah, 1.78” intake valve will clear. The RPM intake ports will likely be larger than the ports on the heads (I know they are on the earlier heads...I’ve got a couple sets of C6’s but they’re buried). If the C6 heads h...

Re: 65 Futura in East TN . . .

Looking good in the sunshine! :D   I don’t see any reason not to use the ‘Stang shock tops; opens choices up by A LOT. I learned Comet/Falcon towers are a little shorter than ‘Stangs so depending on suspension setup you may need spacers to prevent the shock from bottoming-out. I ran 1/2” s...

Not an AOD expert but the tunnel might need a little BFH’ing towards the front!!

Re: Rear Rim Size

A few folks have but I have not seen ‘em in person. I would get the tape measure & a helper and check it out. Off the cuff I’d say an 8” rim would need 5” of back spacing (or more without running into the springs or stops). I used 7” rims with = to 4.5” BS and lips are rolled. Could probably fit a 2...

Re: Flow rate 2v intake vs 4v intake

Stock 2V to stock 4V I would not go through the effort & expense. I’ve had/built a few 260’s and offer the following: -Intake...I like small single plane intakes on stock head, mild SBF’s. The Weiand X-Celerator, original Edelbrock Torker (twisted carb pad) work great. I used an even smaller runner ...

Re: Tomb's 65 Comet Build

I’m stoked for you getting to drive it!!! :D :D :D Let us know on the rear!! What size tires do you have on the back? Mine are 25.5” tall (IIRC) and the T5 OD is almost a dead match for AOD (.68 to .67) and I’m getting about that with 3.89’s. IMHO 3.50-3.55 is ideal though if you’re doing a decent a...

Re: 65 Futura in East TN . . .

No doubt!! The All Ford show I went to earlier this year was sponsored by the Mid America Falcon Club. I asked ‘em about their shows & you can’t bring a Comet to the Falcon-specific shows. I was like “Why not, it’s like a Falcon only cooler!” :D :D :D Just kiddin’ Dan!! Mostly!!

Re: 65 Futura in East TN . . .

Cool!! Engine stuff will always be my favorite. A buddy rolled 356-RWHP with a pretty mild 347 (9.8:1CR, TW11R190 Heads, RPM intake, 650DP) so your goal should right in there!!

Right-on! :D Sorry about the bracket confusion. It looks like they’re 3-row is the same thickness as 2-row. You wrote how wide it is, I just failed reading comprehension on that one! Glad to hear it’s improved!!

Re: 67 caliente drivetrainswap.

As Stacey said, Fairlanes those years were same-same...so Fairlane headers will do! With an auto & street tires the 8” will be fine. I’d make sure my rear springs & shocks are in good shape. Wheel hop has popped more 8” pinions vs. about anything else! :D
