Serpentine setups were available in standard or reverse. Easy to tell by looking at the pulley. Smooth pulley = reverse rotation, ribbed = standard. If you clean them up you might find that they are marked L and R. Otherwise your guess is as good as mine!

I've always welded exhaust pipe with regular mig wire without any problem. However, it does tend to corrode faster as the aluminum coating burns off near the weld. Since I live in a cold climate where they salt the roads a lot I try to avoid welding whenever I can. However this may not be a concern ...

I agree with Fred. I think it would be pretty tough to get your investment back. Best let someone who actually is looking for a 5-bolt block spend the money on it. Rare doesn't equal valuable.
