Ok, not Comet related but we are not used to 10+ inches of snow here in Missouri and it is still coming down. Coming home from work was not fun yesterday. Cars were off the road everywhere and I noticed a few Mustangs, and a Challenger. It got me thinking, how many new cars are rear wheel drive nowadays. Other than Mustang, Challenger, Camaros, are there any other cars that are rear wheel drive?
The car buried in the snow is my Mark VIII.

I can tell you my 62 Comet 3.25 trac loc with a set of Firestone Town and Country radial studded mud and snow tires would go like hell.
66 Cyclone GT; 245/60R15's on 15x8's and 215/70R15's on 15x7 Magnum's.

Probably not much more than a foot at a time.loman wrote:Fred, what's the most snow you ever got at one time?
But back where I lived in Saskatchewan the snow is dry cause usually a lot colder than where you are and has a lot more traction to it.
Here in BC its warmer and after the snow is driven on it packs right away and becomes a slippery mess.
When we were away last winter got a E from a neighbour they got 2 feet one day and a foot the next!
Main street Creston (also the main highway) stayed closed till the snow was cleared,,, I replied that's terrible! (And went golfing)

All BMWs and Mercedes are rear drive. Lexus and Infiniti cars as well. (Unless the AWD option is chosen for all those.)
With all the modern electronic driving aids in the Mustangs and similar cars it’s hard to believe a knucklehead would still take it off-road. But what the hell do I know...I’m in CA!

Re: rear view drive vs front wheel drive
We have a BMW twin turbo diesel RWD in our fleet and the Western Australian and Queensland Police Force are introducing the Kia twin turbo petrol V6 into theirs, RWD is the preference for police forces in the USA and here due to the durability and cheaper maintenance....
