Penlink this evening..
I include the Datsun 1600 ( the green machine) because I had a '68 version which I modified. I courted my wife in that car and it was the first car that she really had.. This car, has a turbo charged 2 litre that puts out 249KW at the rear wheels. (that's 333HP )
Mixture of Fords, Valiants and some GM products. All part of my motoring history and probably not readily identifiable to you guys.

No, they have pink cadillacs here, too. Ha! Great pics. And yes, for a lot of us over here, very unusual. Thanks for posting!

Rcmike, has a 68 Fairlady with a similiar swap but no turbo.
Ridden in and driven it, a lotta fun!
Thanks for the pics the 64 Galaxie caught my eye!

Re: Penlink this evening..
Two things..I spoke to the owner of the Datsun and his son had built the motor for him, guaranteeing 250KW. When the father went to the dyno he managed 249.5KW. He complained to his son that you promised 250...which the son replied, "Stop whinging, I'll get it to 300KW if you want" ( bigger turbo etc) The engine is a 1980s vintage which are reliable and strong.SASSY wrote:Yep!Rocket989 wrote:Nice rides!! The Galaxie hard top has a strange kink in the roof just where it meets the rear window. The Chev next to it had two similar kinks. I asked the Chev owner why were they included and apparently on the Chev it mimics the steel bars that support the convertible, and I guess it is the same on the Ford.

Re: Penlink this evening..
THOSE roof tops were to mimick vertable tops at at a distance, that's always been my take on them, both are nice as all the rest, but OL POP is and always be partial to 55-56 fords, those are some fine FORDS in my book,,,as I owned several in my young days and drove them all into the ground and put them up wet many a night.I found out running gravel roads late at night the bigger and wider tire and wheel you could run made them harder to catch, they'd stay under you better, those 6.70x15 tire that came on them just wouldn't stick

Re: Penlink this evening..
Thanks Pop for confirming the roof design. You know I have been going to the car meets for a while now , and ever since they relaxed the rules on the importation, I have seen so many different models of US LHD vehicles . The old rules were that LHD Imported cars had to be converted to RHD which is a very expensive mod. Now, the floodgates are open and we are seeing all sorts of US vehicles , the kind you once only saw in magazines.

Hey Bruce, did you look under the hood of that red 64ish Chrysler product?
What is the motor? Looks like a twin cam something,,,,

Hi Fred,
It is a '65/'66 Valiant AP6 ( I think AP meant Australian Production with the early ones being US sourced.)
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=vali ... uiC-7WM%3A
The engine was GM/Holden 5 litre EFI V8. ( It may well have been stroked to 355 as that was a common mod )

Re: Penlink this evening..
Great pics Bruce. I always enjoy seeing your pics of the down under cars.
Re: Penlink this evening..
Nice pics mate, always enjoy your posts. Especially like the Aussie Falcons, did any of them have the factory 351 in them? Looked like the newest one may have had that motor.
Albert's 65 289, polar white, black buckets, 5 speed, Autolite 4100, ps, pb, factory tach, crites hood, headers, dual exhaust
Re: Penlink this evening..
Hi Albert, yes the red XD Falcons had the 351C as an option ( and also a 302C). The orange XB coupe also had the same engines. 351 C replaced the 351 windsor in '70.
