5.0 to go backwards?
5.0 to go backwards?
I would like to know if and how a 1990ish 5.0 could be converted to points, condensor and carb?

My engine is built on '91 5.0L roller block.
The 289 stuff bolts right up. Change the timing chain cover, water pump, oil pan, intake.

If its a roller cam 5.0 then just need to change the distributor gear. If you use the original points distributor cast iron gear it will chew up in a few hundred miles. Done that...

Will the rear sump pan fit the Comet? Worked on a stock 5.0L in a '65 2 years ago, already forgot!Boss/Cyclone wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 11:25 amIf its a roller cam 5.0 then just need to change the distributor gear. Re: 5.0 to go backwards?
In my 64 the steering components were at the back of the engine so it had a front sump pan. When I installed the mustang II suspension I had to change to a rear sump because the steering is under the front of the engine.
