what did you do to your comet today?

Post by cometjennz »

so i saw on other forums that they have an ongoing post that every one can go on and say what they did to their comet today, whether it be from going out and driving it to making changes, anything really, so i thought i would start one here. Today i finally got my comet out of the back yard and into the driveway (just got rid of a horrible roomate so now have the space to put her where i wanted in the first place) She got a bath and now im headed out to clean her up inside, get garbage out vacume wipe down dash that kind of stuff.

Looked at the lower control arm mount on the 65. It is ripped which explains why I could not control the car on the big end of the track. :(

Those Comets are looking sharp!
I did some over-troubleshooting on my no reverse light problem. Neither light comes on in Reverse so I ass-umed the switch was bad. Whats the likelihood that both bulbs were burnt out right?
I got it on jack stands and made sure the neutral safety switch was correctly adjusted. No help.
I jumped the wires at the firewall to bypass the switch...no lights. FINALLY I removed the rear lenses and found 2 burnt bulbs  . Confirmed with 12V at the sockets with a multi-meter. I turned a 10 minute job into a 2 hour mis-adventure. 1156 bulbs for reverse lights...I dont have any of those on hand, and no time to go the parts store

Then I serviced the trans filter/fluid and lubed the steering gearbox.

Runs like a top!

I put a 93 input shaft on the 95 T-5 I bought for $200 and stuffed it in the Comet to replace the 6cyl T-5. My new race clutch took out on the first pass at the Gulfport Dragway Nostalgia races. I gotta get the upgrades done on my T-5 Z spec so I can get back to the track and see how my new cam and clutch work.

Repaired holes in gas tank. Lots of them. Tank looks like swiss cheese.

Finished covering holes in the firewall, built a bolt on head rest, adjusted the cal tracs and now off to pull the plugs.

I removed my factory 4 speed shifter and replaced it with a Hurst Competition/Plus. The whole thing went pretty smooth.(after I read the directions)

I gave the car a long hard look...patted it on the hood and promised "Ill be back in a bit..."

We got evacuated because of the big fires in the area. Only 2 drivers and 3 cars...so I left it.
Family is safe and I believe our homes are safe so all should be good.
When I get back home Im taking her for a long ride.
