That hood looks good. Is the big difference in the 65 to 66 fiberglass hoods just the nose? How close is the width? At one time I tried to research the part numbers for the metal "scoops" on the 65-66 hoods to check if they were the same but I dont think I got too far. They look kind of the same but I think the 65 p/n is a C5 number and the 66 scoop is a C6 number. Sounds obvious but I think some part numbers crossed years unless there was a big change?

Anyway cool conversion!!

Ratical like the hood, let see more pics of your build. I raced my comet and the best time was a 13.28 @ 103mph. There is more in her, she just needs some tweaking.

Well thanks guys. I know these hoods are not a poupular choice. but have a poupular price. and as far as scoop interchangeabilty i have no idea, if someone has the measurments for the 65 i will be happy to layout the 66+ measurments. the hood itself was 2 inches overall bigger. so i cut an inch from each side. the back had a totaly diffrent shape. as did the nose. i skined the fiberglass hood. and grafted the nose on. skined the metal hood blasted the frame and sprayed with por 15. used 3M smc/fiberglass two part adhesive. filled some of the thicker openings with liquid nails. at the moment im finishing the underside thickning up all the edges. should just have to straiten up the graft on top. looking at it on the car i probaly should have took the two inches out of the middle. but im well pleased none the less.

thanks and yes cost will be minimal. i had the steel hood from another car i parted out. i got the 66 hood for about 260 shipped. and have about 70 dollars in resin and mat. and the labor. well i never count my labor or id be giving the goverment a good run in deficit.
