Oil Pan ?

Post by SASSY »

Hey Guys,,,,,,,,,,,,been lurking but not posting much. Trying to get
Sassy back together. Just wondering if any of you have any history
with the 3.8 V6 that came out in the early 80's.
What was it used in, is the 4.2 same externally, etc. I'm looking to find a steel
oil pan and pickup seeing as I don't have access to aluminum welding equipment anymore.
Raising the engine has necessitated more pan surgery .

Fred,

Those are the years I worked at the Ford dealer. Ford used them in several cars. Mustangs, TBirds, LTD II's. We did a lot of head gaskets on the 3.8's in those days.

Thanks! I need rear wheel wheel drive but this is worth checking into. The pan rail might be the same.
Do you know if that sump goes to the front of back of the motor?
