Air Conditioning Idler Pulley

Post by bamnow »

Does anyone have a picture or diagram of the correct placement of the idler pulley(s) for the air conditioning on a 1966 289 Comet Villager?

I'm replacing the original York compressor with a Sanden. The car is a California car with a smog pump, but I'm not using the pump. The car has a 3 groove crank pulley and the outermost groove is for the AC belt. The compressor mounts on the top right-hand side of the motor. I believe there should be an idler pulley near the alternator (left side of engine) in order for the ac belt to clear the water pump.

Thanks in advance for any help.
