Opentracker Rods
Opentracker Rods
Anyone using these http://www.opentrackerracingproducts.com/clutchrods/ ?
I was wondering if they would bolt into a factory 65 Comet z-bar setup.

Re: Opentracker Rods
Joe;they should work. The only thing I don't like is all the adjustment is on the lower rod. JMO,ROY.

Re: Opentracker Rods
Thanks Roy. I noticed that about the adjustment. On the factory rods the upper doesnt have any adjustment either does it? Those rods look pretty heavy duty though.

Their website says their working on a 65 Falcon z-bar. Not cheap though...

Joe;the stock 65 Comet had all its adjustment on the upper rod, none on the lower.I don't see any problems as long as you can get the clutch set up.Barrillaro's stuff is expensive.I run original parts except for the lower rod, mine broke many years ago and all I could find was a Mustang, works fine. Mine had the adjustment near the master cylinder before I replace it with McLeod's hydraulic set up.CALIFORNIA CALIENTE wrote:Joe;the stock 65 Comet had all its adjustment on the upper rod, none on the lower.I don't see any problems as long as you can get the clutch set up.Barrillaro's stuff is expensive.I run original parts except for the lower rod, mine broke many years ago and all I could find was a Mustang, works fine. I bought rollerized control arms from them and they were great to deal with. Real nice guy! Mark

Re: Opentracker Rods
Well I fabbed up some Opentracker type rods for the clutch z-bar setup. 3/8" rods cut to length, threaded with 3/8" heim joints for the upper and the same for the lower...except I used the 66 Mustang style pointed adjustable rod with a heim joint. I tried to get some adjustability into the upper and lower rods, and they are just about the factory lengths at their mid-points of adjustment. Hope it works. Ill post a few pics.
Im also doing the Mustang Steve pedal support sealed ball bearings mod.
With all the roller this and bearing that (with a diaphragm clutch) it should be a fairly light pedal effort.
We'll see.

Re: Opentracker Rods
Did you ever finish this project up?
Re: Opentracker Rods
Got the rods done:Muttley wrote:Did you ever finish this project up?
Decided against the roller z-bar.
Still need to get the clutch installed and adjusted.

Re: Opentracker Rods
Cool deal, I'm seriously considering the roller bearing upgrade for the clutch/brake pedal on my '65.
Re: Opentracker Rods
For the price ($40) you cant beat it. Seems durable enough. The only real issue I had was with the welded-in bearing "retainers"; they tend to warp when you weld them so you have to do some grinding to get the bearings to drop in. There a few other small things to fit. But once fitted its smooooth!Muttley wrote:Cool deal, I'm seriously considering the roller bearing upgrade for the clutch/brake pedal on my '65.
Worth every penny http://www.mustangsteve.com/clutchbearings.html
BTW this is the sealed ball bearing kit, not the roller bearing kit (that does not require welding) that are also on the market.
