aligning doors

Post by 65 Cali »

Anyone know of some tips or tricks to aligning doors?

I was able to get the door to shut, but it is not straight. Is there a good way to do this without trial and error?

Thanks,
Glen

Aligning Doors

Glen;there is no EASY way,but a friend that is a semi-retired bodyman told me to start at the quarter to body lines then adjust the fenders to fit.I try to line up the body lines and get the rocker panel to door gap even then fit the door and fender lines and gap.It can be a pain but does not cost anything but your time, but pays huge rewards if done properly. There was a 65 Comet in one of the mags earlier this year that was done nicely but the body lines were all over the place and being a Caliente with all the trim it really looked like crap. GOOD LUCK!!! ROY.
