65 Comet Door Trim Removal

Post by harleyddad »

I'm having a time removing the top of door stainless trim, any suggestions? Most of the other body trim came off fairly easy.

Is this a hardtop?
Are you talking the trim that follows the roof line from the windshield to the rear deck?
It snaps on.
I've never removed the trim that the weather strip sits in.

Sassy, Yes this is a hardtop and the trim runs along the top of the door at the belt line. It does run to the rear deck and meets roof rail.

There is a screw at the ends and the center clips are similar to door panel clips.Get a set of plastic clip removal tools, there is one made to slide under the stainless and release the trim. ROY.

Roy, are you talking about the piece across the top of the windshield? I think he's looking at the side of the car.
Harleydad are you talking where the top of the side glass rolls up into or the trim on the drip rail
or am I just not getting it?

Fred;I think your 64 does not have that trim.If I understand correctly it is the piece at the top of the door and quarter panel on 65 Calientes, right at the glass,65 Cyclones do not have this piece either. ROY.

Roy is correct, this trim would be under your arm if you held it out the window and it extends back beyond the roof line. I'll check with Eastwood and a local body shop supplier for the plastic tools. Thanks for the help, guys, i hate to damage hard to replace trim.

Hey Sassy, that's fine, I didn't know this trim wasn't on a Cyclone. I appreciate the wealth of knowledge available here.

Hey guys, just an update. Picked up some nylon trim removal tools art a swap meet this weekend, it sure did make prying off the upper door trim on the Cal easy.I didn't want to damage any of the trim and the soft tools did the trick.
