64 comet 404 vs caliente

Post by got9lbs »

I haven't been able to see very many pictures online of the full length side trim on the 64 404 models but does it also have the stainless steel infill between the trim?

I have both a 64 404 and a caliente and I don't know which one to use as the project. The caliente has already had a mustang II front suspension welded into it and I have a TCI front end conversion for the 404. But only the caliente has the side trim with it. To start I would like to figure out my original question about the side trim then I will post pics of each and let you all help decide which one to fix up and which one to sell.

On another note I do have like 8 sets of headlight trim and lots of misc parts are they worth selling?

i think the caliente is the only model the inlay was used on.
but there was a piece of inlay, i think used on the 404
on the rear quarter. the speared area that has the comet letters
please dont throw your spare parts away! someone will need them.
post what you dont need in for sale
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

that is a decent looking post!
but i couldnt advise against hardtop
they are easily my fav. but the caliente trim needs
to be in good shape cause its nearly impossible to find
and ive never seen the inlay refinished properly
