New to posting from SE Idaho (Pocatello)

Post by ironrod1966 »

Hi all!! My name is Wes and I own my fathers 1966 Comet Capri 2dr HT. I remember being with dad when he bought this car new from the showroom on Long Island. It has been across the US 3 times, to Florida once, and then a few trips from California to Idaho. The engine (289) was seized in 1977 and then sat out in Idaho weather until dad gave it to me in the early 2000"s. I hauled it to Las Vegas where I lived until 2004 when I got in in good enough running order to drive it back to Pocatello when I relocated here. It had lots of rust and I did a passable job of getting most of it fixed. I replaced the 289 with a 302. Had the interior redone and put a vinyl top on (white). I plan on painting it arrest me red! I put a set of GT40P heads on it and a mild cam. Getting about 320HP now. I have run into a few snags fitting the new headers on it and will be looking for some help in the modification forum.
I'm glad to be a part of your community and hope I can contribute at least a little because I know I'll be asking lots of questions!

Wes

Interesting!

I didnt realise Mercury used the "Capri" name in the 60's!

I presumed it was just the 70's German built Capri' that got the Mercury badge in the US!?

Over here in the UK we got the Capri name from 61 on the Fords built in the Dagenham factory
