New old comet owner

Post by postie »

Hi. My name is Mark. I have just purchased a 1964 Comet convertible. I don't know much about the history of the car. I was told it came to the island about 15 yrs ago from N.Y. but not really sure. It has some modifications done to it by previous owners...some of which I would like to replace eventually. I have joined the website to get some ideas and maybe getting some advice when I do start working on it.

Hey Postie, Welcome!
Just wondering if your user name has anything to do with your work history.
I was a letter carrier with Canada Post almost 35 years.

I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

Welcome aboard! You're at the right site for the help and encouragement you'll need as you work on your new ride. And Groover will be the first to tell you that his opinion on year and body style is no brag, just fact.

I am just trying to figure out how to shrink my photos so I can post a few. Not much on the IT stuff. If I can get it figured out I will post a few. Yes I was a postie for 37 yrs in Victoria. Now delivering batteries for East Penn.

Thanks for the nice feedback. It does need some work. Front end has a pull to the left..parking brake cable broken..some of the gauges not working..the gears in the rear end need to be changed to something better suited to the hwy...it has a gate shifter which I really don't like..someone decided it would be a good idea to put some pin hold downs on the hood. Cut them into the hood but no pins...not needed. Front grille could use some attention. Does anyone know if an aftermarket one is available? The carb needs some attention. I am sure there will be some more issues to deal with as time goes on.

Almost no body and trim parts are available repopped, finding used is about the best you can hope for.
