new member needs help!
Re: new member needs help!
for what it's worth a quick google, ebay motors and craigs list turned up quite a few 65 comet hits - good luck with the project!
67 Comet
No power steering, 4-wheel drum brakes, 5 gears 'n' 400 + horsepower...
...hell yea it's fun
Re: new member needs help!
Welcome cometbaby730, my comet was rotten on the underside also. It took me awhile to fix it but once I got started it went good. Many old comets have rot in all the same places. Good luck and checkout some off the build threads and maybe that will help.

We will take some pics of the underside and post them tonight. But for now you can see why we were sucked in Doesn't look too bad from the top, very straight, doors open and close perfect. Every mechanical instrument works. Runs and drives decent.

Re: new member needs help!
Ok We had someone over to see the car today, he said he would work on the back end first, front end isn't as bad. He says we need new torque boxes. Is there a places to order those or do you fabricate those yourself?? Anyone know?

Re: new member needs help!
Don't believe there is any source for new torque boxes. Have to find a donor or build them yourself.

Awesomely enough, new member 5650duane lives about an hour and a half from us and he posted in 'buy sell trade' and he is parting out a rusty 65 Comet, he says the torque boxes are good on that car, we will be making a trip up there very soon. He also had some parts for my dad that he wants. So a big yahoo all around!!! My dad is new member Ol' Caliente.
I'm going to post underside pics of our car in Showing Off. So I can get out of Introduce Yourself
