I don't remember, I just kept playing and swearing till it worked!!
Probably somewhere on the control panel
You'll probably have to learn to post pictures here first
then downsize one and upload it.

I was looking to add an avatar to my signature also. From the looks of things you do it under user control panel (Edit Profile)( Edit Avaitar)find the picture on your host web site and enter the URL. When I find the picture I want to use I will try it.

You can edit one of your own pics to 80 x 80 pixels and upload it or grab it from another web page and link it.

I went to User Control Panel Profile Edit Avatar Clicked on Browse it opens my documents Found the picture I wanted selected it then clicked open and it installed it. If your picture is too big it won't take it. You may need to edit the size of the picture. Your picture can only be 80x80 pixels. My original was 1200x800 I opened it in windows paint and resized it and then saved it with a new name Comet a b c

Seems I recall that there is both a resolution and a file size limit. So getting it down to 80 x 80 won't automatically make it work (if you're using some fancy format like tiff). I had to change it to a gif or some really efficient file format and even then I think I had to go to 51 x 80. It has to be less than X kb (can't remember what X is) in order to upload.

FYI, Photobucket has some pretty good editing tools including resizing, so if you're trying to make an avatar out of a photo you already have in Photobucket, you can resize it right from there and I think you can even just link to it rather than upload the actual photo to the Comet site.

I for got that the format could make it too large. Mine was a Jpeg. I think that takes out every other pixel for internet travel.
