One of my buddies Omar posted this video of the day at the track. Lots of cool cars! Nice to see it from the perspective of a spectator. Sometimes I get so caught up on running the car I forget to see the cool car show happening.

That is very cool, your car sounds amazing. I enjoyed the video, looks like a great day at the track.

Haha thanks Joe!
It was cool to hang out with these younger guys that are full of ideas and are motivated. I think getting them out there and showing them that there’s no black magic involved inspired them to go build their own cars that are track capable.
Seems like the process of getting the car registered and tech’d and actually ON the track is intimidating. Now that they’ve seen it happen I think it’ll be easier for them. Hoping to see a 64 Comet Cyclone and 68 Mustang join me at the next track event :D

Joe, I clicked on a link at the end of Omar's Willow Springs vid of another one about your car I thought was pretty cool. I like it when he takes a peak inside your 65 Cyclone and comments on how it smells original. Mine has that smell, too.

Wow that is a cool car Fred!! There are exactly ZERO Comets that run at the track. Kinda sad. If this kid can get his going it’s going to be the only one out there.

Haha yeah Jim he came over to check out a Toploader I have built. He’s a very active social media guy (I’m not. It goes in cycles with me. On and off) so he gets everything on video.

Another track event in the books for the Falcon. 2 days, maybe 8 twenty-minute sessions. 80 laps or so? Not sure maybe I should write all this stuff down.
Car ran amazing as always. Had to fatten up the jets on both sides to stay around 12.5 on the AFR gauge. Ran great with the adjustment.
I went a second faster this time. I wanted more but seems like I’ve gotten to the limit of the fuel system. In the 2 very hard right turns at this track it starts to sputter and goes super lean. Slowed me down a little. Im pretty sure I could have gone even faster. The car feels likes its just barely under control but DANG is it fun :D

Couple of vids. My buddy Omar was out there taking vids of the action.

https://youtu.be/SF75N9y3-6A?si=rRJ6rAEdvflqL2tz

I added a 1 1/8 inch sway bar but I’m still lifting the right rear wheel off the track in that hard right hander in the first vid. I haven’t flown off the track so I guess it’s ok.
In the second vid you can hear me hit the rev limiter just before the upshift. Im not crazy about that. I have it set to 6700rpm but it’s indicating a little over 6000rpm before it starts to limit. I think the Autometer gauge isn’t accurate at higher revs or maybe the rev limiter sucks? Im not sure.
Brakes are dead nuts reliable with the cooling ducts and hub spacers installed. I adjusted the rear shoes and boy the pedal feels great!

Next event is in October.
I’d like to figure out the fueling issue. Maybe add an electric pump at the tank to boost the fuel to the mechanical pump? There’s “road race” floats, jet extensions and spring loaded needle/seats to think about.
Im not sure if it’s on the pump side or a carb issue.

I think it’s time to lower the car some more. Means I gotta cut the rear wheel wells open for the tires :x

I’d really like to add AFR heads and a roller cam but that’s a lot o’ cash!
