66 Fairlane is my second favorite car behind the 65 Comet, mainly due to the sentiment associated with my first Comet. If not for that, the 66 Fairlane would be my choice.

Those headlights was how I accidentally found my Cyclone. Was driving down the highway and spotted those headlights off the road through a very thick patch of grass taller than my head beside an old body shop. Thought it was a GTO, so I drove back out of curiosity. When I got close enough to see it was a Cyclone, dude.........

Good look’n Fairlane. Actually one of the big differences between a Ford model and it’s Mercury counterpart is that the Mercury’s have lock Washers!!

Very cool car. I had a 67 hardtop with a 289 and drove it until the seat went thru the bottom of the car
If I was to build another car that's what I'd build.

I didn't know that, Jim. I found a '66 Cyclone GT I had been trying to buy for many years shortly after I bought the '63 1/2. The original owner wouldn't sell @ the time and I lost touch. Through a strange coincidence I found it totally restored, up for sale by 2nd owner. I passed on it and found a good home for it w/ a member on this forum.

My '66 had a cowl leak that was pretty bad. The friend I bought it from also had a coupe that was in much better condition but I just had to have the ht. It was also a 289 car, so I found a wrecked GT and pulled all of the brakes, suspension and 9 inch from it to convert it. Had it all changed over when I had to sell. It's a treat to see it finished in his car, almost 40 years later. Some dreams do come true but not necessarily the way you envisioned them.

66/67 fairlanesI are my pick....more so then a comet.......and your son's is great....perfect whls on it.....POP has owned a few of them,,289 and 390....they just LOOK good.....pop

This one is a cruiser, Pop. Has an overdrive unit! I'm betting top end on this car could get scary.
Stock GT engine w/ slight cam upgrade and headers.

The stacked headlights on the 66/67 Fairlane started my love affair with the 65 Comet. The stacked headlight Galaxies are bitchin too

I have a 'soft spot' for the vertical headlights as well but I also have a soft spot for the '62 Galaxie, my first car. The headlamps and buckets on my '63 are just like that Galaxie, as well as the rounded body. The roofline is identical to my old Cyclone. And I dig fins! Win-win-win.

COON HUNTING HEADLIGHTS are what they are,,,,stacked,vertical ,what ever hamdle you want to attach to them is up for grabs.....they were put on comets to drive down a dirt muddy bumpy road so's you can get... a coon out of a tree top for supper,,but on the fairlanes in 66/67 ford used them for the sexy look...so there you have it,,Mercury used them to help catch supper....FORD used them to catch.........you fill in the blank..................have a great day to all that reads this..pop

Stacked for coons, flat for rabbits. Either way, they put supper on the table and looked good in the process.
