I recently picked up an all original 1970 High compression 351C 4V and thought I would share. It has been sitting behind a friend's shed for years and is in terrible shape, but it was interesting to see a complete engine from air cleaner to oil pan that is so original. Here are some pics:

All I get off the engine code (D0AE-G) is 1970, generic ford, 2 bolt mains. I'm thinking of doing the machine work, buying some pistons and putting it back together.

Those are the best Cleveland heads. Toss in some Boss pistons (takes compression to 12.75 to 1) and cut the rocker pedestals for studs and adjustable roller rockers and toss in a nice solid cam and you will basically have my engine minus 4 bolt mains. 4 bolt mains started in 71 on 4 barrel headed engines. Very cool find, what will you use it in?

I doubt I will do anything with it soon. I just wanted to tear it down and see if it was salvagable.STROKED wrote:THAT'S A FINE PIECE TO PLAY WITH, IT WILL MAKE SOME MAJOR HORSEPOWER & TORQUE. LET US KNOW WHAT'S UP....STROKED....

Jimbo;I would be concerned about all the water that got in the engine. Before you do anything you need to have the block honed and see if it can be cleaned up!! ROY.

Cool find, not many Clevelands around here anymore. Good luck and hope the block is OK.

off topic 351 head question
Sorry to be off topic but I have a question about the 351 heads. Are these the closer to the 351 boss heads in 71' or are they closer to the heads that they put on the Panteras? I've always heard that the 351's in the Panteras were 4 bolt mains and they had the Australian closed combustion 2v heads.
Does any of this match anything anybody else knows?

I don't know about the Pantera, but I believe, other than the adjustable valvetrain these are the same as boss heads.Rick Shipley wrote:Sorry to be off topic but I have a question about the 351 heads. To my knowledge 70 and 71 4bbl heads with 2.19 intakes are the same although the 70 motor had slighty higher compression.
The 70 was 11to1 or more, the 71 was 10.7to1.
The 2bbl heads have smaller valves and ports actually better on the street, imo.

Re: off topic 351 head question
I don't know about the Pantera either but, the 70 heads have the same valves as Boss heads with a smaller quench style chamber that increases compression. This is what I have always considered the best Cleveland head and what I run on my original Boss bottom end. I just had the pedestals machined for screw in studs and a buddy who is an engine builder at Roush massaged the heads a little to unshroud the valves.Jimbo wrote: I don't know about the Pantera, but I believe, other than the adjustable valvetrain these are the same as boss heads.

So Boss are you saying the 70 351C 4bbl heads have the 2.25 intake valves?

No, both 71 Boss and 70 four barrel have 2.19 intake valves. 72 four barrel heads are open chamber, have detonation problems and low compression. The 70 heads are like Boss heads but about 3 cc smaller quench style combustion chamber. I just like the 70 head better for the smaller chamber and they are MUCH cheaper to get a hold of. I sold my Boss heads years ago to a guy restoring a Boss Mustang. I believe it was the Boss 302 that had the bigger 2.25 intake valves but I am not sure of that.SASSY wrote:So Boss are you saying the 70 351C 4bbl heads have the 2.25 intake valves?
