Re: 351 clevland
I love Clevelands and had one in my 65 for 15 years. However, this is not as easy as say a 302 swap. The shock towers will be just about touching the motor. I had mine in between the stock shock towers with special headers but it was a major pain to install. If this is just a fun cruiser I would go 302 or 289,
Here are some pictures of the headers I used. 8 individual pipes with one pipe for each side crossing over to the other.

Re: 351 clevland
I have a 351c in my 70 Totino GT . It is a great engine that responds well to performance mods. It could be a great swap.
Only use the brakes to stop and get gas.

Like already said it can be done and has been done. Is it worth it? Only you can answer that one. Shock tower work is a must. Headers are a pain. The benefit is being a bit different and since we all have Comets we already fit that catagory. You might check Tubular Automotive for headers and Crites for a shock tower kit. Let us know what you decide. Brian

Re: 351 clevland
I installed a crites shock tower kit in my 1965 comet cyclone,or should I say my son performed the fab work,he is quite the welder. This kit gives me plenty of room for the cleveland. The headers are a different story, Charles Crites told me way back when that he was going to make the headers for the cleveland used with his shock tower kit. He of course never developed them, not enough inquires. I purchase a set of headers from Autokrafters made by tubular automotive. Of course I had to modify the crites motor mount system to get them to fit but I finally managed to get them to fit quite well. Then I took them back off and had them ceramic coated, then back under the car to re-install them. I hope this helps you. It was a lot of work but the engine looks beautiful sitting in the engine bay.

Currently building a 351C for my '65 Cyclone....came upon the block local on Craglist. Had it bead blasted, .20 over now with Hypereutectic teflon coated flat tops, stock rods, Glyptol in the valley, .10/.10 on the polished crank...checking out cams now...gonna delete the shock towers entirely and put in block off plates. Hooker headers...go for it ...Bri

Lobster if you look on the (introduce yourself on the board index) under new member from Caseville Michigan,my son posted pictures of my 1965 Cyclone with the 351C in it. That's the Crites kit with Tubular Automotive headers. In the pictures you can see the room I have between tall valve covers and the shock towers. A couple of the pictures shows the headers. Good luck with your install if you decide on the 351C.
Re: 351 clevland

Who's shock tower brace setup is that? Very nice. Next time I have my Cleveland out the originals are going in the scrap bin. Very nice looking engine compartment. Brian
