quick question on fuel pump

Post by wgreggking »

It sounds as if my fuel pump on my302, old style pump with integrated filter needs replacing.10 years old maybe 3000 miles on it. it has had a slight tick for some time now.Took it off, seemed to be working OK by hand. The other day it stopped running, 3 times, seemed like it was running out of gas, got it back in the garage, it's running fine now. I now notice what I thought sounded like a small exhaust gasket leak. Located it with a piece of heater hose, It sounds like its coming from the pump? can they make that sound? Thanks, GK

WELL kinda sorta ,if that spring breaks under the arm,it will sound like a lifter rattle to a degree,,,pay attention close to the noise you here threw the rubber hose,it can throw you for a loop pop

The check valve in there goes bad...

Put an edelbrock on it.
