63 FE or not?????

Post by rjones35 »

Hi all. Pretty new here! I bought a 63 with a 390 in it recently. Its not in there "right". I'm in the process of pulling it out and fixing all the issues and making it a nice driver. I'm having second thoughts on keeping the 390. To begin with, its nothing special and it needs a little work. I need to either fix the shock tower situation or mustang ii front end it, so the engine will actually fit without sitting on everything. It would be much simpler and cleaner to put a small block back in it. I'm not really looking to go fast necessarily, just a fun driver. I could just get it going like it is and not really make it right and be happy......
Any thoughts???

289/302 is a good fit in those engine bays. And the parts are plentiful to make it look factory stock!

I got a chuckle thing about this. Bottom line is an FE guy will say FE; a small block guy will say small block. A series 385 guy will, you guessed it.

OK,L Ripper,I'll bite on that one.If it were me......I'd get the Sawzall out and hack those shock towers out, stick a rack kit under it,drop in a nice 800 horse 557 BBF stroker between the fenders, cage, back half set up and a pair of steam rollers, really impress the crowd you would no doubt attract. :D
