So I have a line on a marine 427 with heads and intake. I've seen pics of the engine and it does have the cross-bolted mains and I believe "C8..." casting numbers. Intakes a 4v and has "C8ZE" on it.
Question: what's the stuff worth? Any interest in these?
I know its tough to determine a value of old parts but any ballpark figures would help.

Some of it is good stuff as long as the block has not had salt water run through it. The marine block is actually better than the street block. The only problem is you have to have it drilled to make it a side oiler. The oil passages are there, Dove does this machine work alot. My brother had them do one for him years ago. The heads are essentially C6AE-R heads with some extra material in the exhaust ports. The pistons are junk, crank is cast iron. Intake is good for a boat anchor.
Flywheel is ok for a street car. Would make a cool starting point for a stroker motor, maybe 482 or so.
If you can get it for $1000 or less and the water passages are not too rusty I would grab it.

If you want a high strength casting, the best bet is a '66 casting or one from a 300 H.P. Chris Craft boat. The problem, with boat motors, is that they are machined as a top oiler. However, the bosses are there for the side oiler but are not machined. This operation is performed at Dove Performance on a regular basis.
The Marine blocks are also the choice with thicker cylinder walls. For instance, the front and rear of a C8 street block is approx. .080" thick. The marine block cylinder is .125" thick. This, combined with the tough iron, makes it the strongest of all factory F.E. blocks.
The C8AZ-6010-G is acceptable for most Hi-Performance operations, but when the compression gets over 12to1, or the H.P. over 650, you need a stronger block; like a C6 427 block or a marine block.
NOTE: All F.E. blocks should be honed with TORQUE PLATES INSTALLED.
Bore deflections follow:
C8AZ-6010-G
.003"
427 Marine Block
.001" to .002"
Thick Walled 390,428
.004" to .006"
Thin Walled Blocks
.006" to .008"
As you can see, they all benefit from torque plates, in some cases as much as
80-90 H.P.

Dude selling it is a kid and seems like he thinks he discovered Shelby's personal 427 side oiler that powered his lawn mower! That's why I was trying to get a baseline value.
Like I said if anyone wants to deal with the seller your welcome to it.

Joe;that block will need at least two sleeves,8 pistons,new cam and lifters and a complete rebuild just to be usable again! If he wants more than $1500-$2000,I'd say pass!! JMO,ROY.

If I'm going to have heavy junk laying around, it might as well be 427 FE junk! Sadly, I have no real use for it.
