Hiello comet fans
What do you all do when you need a new radiator? I have a 62 comet eith 170 straight six. It came with ols two core that is 1 1/2" thik. I bought a new supposedly oe easy fit. Fittings locations ste fine but it is 2 1/2 " thick and fan hits it. Wont even go inbetween fan and bracket. No one recores anymore and i cant find a new thinner two core. Please help

does you fan have a spacer behind it? If so, see if you can get a smaller spacer (JEGS or Summit). That's what I did when I had an oe rad that was too thick. Eventually I found a guy to recore my two core and I went back to original rad and aluminum spacer.

There is no spacer. I ordered a low profile fan but still not enough room. I will look aroun for recorers i guess. Thanks again!

you could notch the support to move the rad forward. You could probably gain up to 3/4'' or more room.

I have seen where folks mount the radiator in front of the core support.

I used a Champion, I think, aluminum one in my 63 with a 302. I have quite a bit of room up there.

Ipaid for a recore will pick tomorrow and put car on the road this wknd snd c how hot she runs. If still hot i will try cuttingt the mounting support. Thanks for the tips. Helps to know not really alone on this project!
