The driver's side mirror on my '61 is positioned directly in line with teh vent window opening path, I can open the vent window maybe 1/2" before hitting it.
Looks original, rectangular mirror setup, no indication it's ever been moved/removed.
Anyone else run into this? I figure to simply move it forward on the door, and/or put a roundie on there

Hello,
That's because the original was mounted on the fender. See pic.

On some models on the fender... All the rest show round on the forward part of the door, not obstructing the vent...

Re: vent window hits side mirror
Early fords didn't come from the factory with outside mirrors mounted. Most got installed by the dealers. Dealers put them where ever they wanted.
I installed my drivers side mirror far enough forward so the vent opens most of the way without interference. Pass side is where the vent can open about perpendicular to the body, enough to get air and also so I cab see most of the mirror though the vent glass.
It's a pain relocating it to a better spot,
Ron

My one mirror is mounted behind the vent window (rearward of it) I am going to move it because I don't like it there.

Re: vent window hits side mirror
Mine had to be in front of the vent window as since it's a remote control mirror it has limited movement and wouldn't move far enough to use it mounted behind the front glass track. So I have to view it through the vent glass which isn't as good especially in cold weather when the glass fogs over. Not that I drive it during bad weather. But for me I had no choice.

I have actually thought about peep mirrors but that might be too rat rod for my taste
