Battery size

Post by Sawyer0162 »

I would like to buy a reproduction battery for my 60. There are several sites that sell them for very specific makes and models. However, the 60 to 62 Comet and Falcon are difficult to find. One "expert" told me it is supposed to be 9 inches long by 6 3/4 wide. The Autolite Sta-ful for a 65 and up is 10 1/4 long. I want to use the original bottom hold down clamp. Does anyone have any experience with this before I unload 300 on a battery?
Thank you
Tom

I am not exactly sure what battery your car uses, but my 64 Comet uses a 24F with side hold down. I suspect yours would be close to this. It is fairly small and I can get them locally at Rural King.

If you take a look at the part number on the repro Autolite battery it is C1DZ-10655-A. C1DZ translates to 1961 Falcon.

Comet/Falcon are the same beast so....
Not sure if the measurement would fit a 60.
