Hey folks -
The springs retaining my '65 headlight rings are impossibly stiff... extremely hard to install... it seems like the amount of pressure they exert on the rings is far greater than necessary. Installation is a quite difficult process - I find that I have to use needle nose vice grips and carefully protect my headlight bucket with a towel so as to not beat the crud out of the paint.
My springs are original parts (and have been painted a few times)... but I would think 50 years of weather would only serve to weaken them... so it seems like new springs are unlikely to be any easier to deal with.
Does anyone have experience with new springs vs original springs - do the new ones get any easier to install? Am I alone in saying these things are a real bugger to deal with?
