lower!

Post by SASSY »

Hey Guys,,, I'm lowering the front of the Comet more so I have to raise the motor in the car cause the pan already touches
with 4 people in the car. Most everything has been modded in my car cept the drag link. I was wondering what the stock
distance between the oilpan rail of the V8 and the center of the drag link is? and how tall a V8 oilpan is?
No I'm not installing a v8! Interested to know the stock crank centerline in the car.
Thanks in advance
Fred

just don't tilt the motor for clearance
you'll end up with severe driveline angle and ujoint problems and driveline vibration

i set motor in at 7 deg (down at rear) from true horizontal (vehicle sitting level on jackstands) (lowest i could go and clear Mii crossmember
put pinion up at 2 deg (up at front) (most i could get and clear floor tunnel at back)
fist u joint lasted 50 miles
this was done on 61 rambler 15 yrs ago - sold the car cheap
later found out i probably could have fixed with a CV joint at front instead of conventional u-joint

whew !!!

Everything works great now just too low,,
Plan to maintain present angles as i raise the motor.
I was just wondering, the stock distance pan rail to drag link.

I'm not making myself clear, the bottom of the block where the pan bolts to
and the drag-center link between the tie rod ends the vertical measurment
