64 Durability Comet

Not sure if you guys have seen this...pretty cool pictures and info on one of the Hipo Durability Comets...a Caliente!

That car is still in great shape and that guy is a great detailer.

One, a blue one, was made into Doug Nash's B/FX car. I don't know about any of the others.

I once had an Anniversary Silver '64, Caliente, black interior, 260 automatic. Wish I still had it.

I tried to add a photo of the Doug Nash car but got a notice:

"Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached."

Nice car. Those hubcaps? Are they standard Mercury Comet? I think I have seen them on some of the Australian Fords from the mid sixties, possibly on the Fairlanes. Are the Comet wheels in this picture 14" or 15"?

If 14" I wouldn't mind a set on my Fairmont. :wink:

When I bought my comrt yrs ago,,a set of those caps were in trunk[14 in.]I'll go over to old shop,they might still be there.Let ya know in day or so.,,,,POP

MY uncle bought new a ANNIVRSY SILVER 64 202 6cyl auto,2dr..took my drivers test in it ,,had black int.,also....YEP!...POP

Another thing...that car sits kinda low. I wonder if its old springs or some kind of factory spring set up to assist in the Durability Run.

Those are the correct hubcaps, my '64 had them when I bought it from my aunt the original owner. The wheels were 14"
