Re: Joe's '65 Caliente Project
Thank's guys. The car was repainted a long time ago and even Earl Scheib would have made fun of the quality. It's good enough for me but I'm tired of answering the "When are you going to paint it" questions. I always tell them I'm leaving it the way it is and relay the story about my old Z/28. I had a fortune in that paint job (it was beautiful) but it didn't last long and the upkeep would have killed me if I would have kept it. When the Comet gets dirty I push it out of the garage and blow the dust off with the leaf blower. Here's a side shot:

AND I think it's as cool as a SNOW CONE....leave it alone,,I LIKE IT !! we have one of those high dollar paint jobs on wife's 56 ford show car,it's a pain in the hinny,,always scared of a scratch or someone at a car show is going to lean on it,etc. And every bird that has the squirts is looking for it,,said it before, those slick pretty paint jobs are not the way to go ,,,JMO....POP

I bet he did,JOHN,model car paint and a narrow brush, grab your wraist with your left hand just after taking a hit of beer, and make a downward stroke ,slow and steady and it helps if the paint is not to thin.......Am I good ,or completly off base? poppoboyjo65 wrote:Looks great Joe! did you paint the emblem too?

Yessir Pop that's just what I did. I may give it a clear coat so it doesn't peel off when I'm cruising at 125mph on the highway
Thanks Johnny. It ain't perfect...but neither is my car!

Thanks Roger!
I took a trip to my body mans place to check on the old hood.
He's made good progress on the numerous crack repairs. He's sanding the last of the repairs down, ready to skim coat and start the body work.
This is with the fake scoop emblem
And a shot of the emblems. They look like someone fabbed them in the garage. Not symmetrical. No part numbers casted in, just a "R" and "L".
