Looks Great!

Like the power windows. Are they a kit or something you did with parts from other vehicles. Want to do power windows in my Comet.

Again looks great, nice collection of rides!!

Nice job on the power windows. Didn't even notice till that was pointed out. I said it before you will turn heads and get a lot of attention with that. I get the same thing all the time.
People ask me how many were built and I say 'one'. I tell them it's "Sheederbuilt'. Or is it Canadian they ask? As Pops said the Canadians missed their chance.
When I go to shows people just stare at my Comechero emblems on the side.

And half of them will take a pic just of the emblem. The comechero draws a lot of attention. It's a great feeling. Doesn't garner any awards at shows but gets lots of attention.
You are in 'high cotton as the say'. Enjoy!
Ron

Pop, you know how headlights should be !!! Thanks Joe, that hard cover looks good after all your efforts helping me get it over here. Lou I made the power windows using the mechanisms from a local Ford Falcon late model from a swap meet, you probably have a similar mechanism from a modern car over there, I searched for switches that were chrome & only had 2 switches on the drivers side, only ones I could find were off the other brand pickup truck on ebay, they were only about $18, I was going to go with T-Bird switches but were too expensive, with 4 windows there are more options available. Ron I fitted central locking too & an alarm as I will drive it every day to work, the alarm has a remote so I can unlock with the remote too, has all the mod cons !!! did you notice the Mercury emblem I CNC machined up from stainless steel on the tailgate replacing the ranchero badge. John

I also added central locking to mine, don't think it has alarm feature (though if it does I didn't use it)but has many more functions I could use. I lock/unlock my doors with it. Could also unlock the rear cap if I ever get around to designing and fabbing the parts and hook up the actuator. Could add power windows to it as one feature. Was also going to add remote starting but was kind of scary as I would have to make sure it was in neutral with the brake on if I ever tried to start it that way. Might startle someone to walk up to it and start the engine and i'm not inside the car at the time.
Leave it in gear and it's going to go off down the road or run into something. Would take a safety sw on the shifter to make sure it was in neutral before the feature would work. Because of my shifter design would have taken some tricky engineering to add the sw so decided not to add the feature.
I like that tailgate emblem. That is real slick. Can whoever made that make any more? Was it done by hand as a one-off or did he have a program? You might have a market there for a new product. More of those might make nice wheel center caps. I once made an air cleaner nut out of an older ranchero tailgate steer emblem but have never put it on.
How about a closeup pic of that emblem?
Are you allowed to drive with Calif plates or is that a short term thing till you get new plates? Here i think by law you have 30 days to register and get the correct plates. I have the black and yellow Calif YOM plates which fit the year of my car but I had to apply to get approval and to register them and use them. To me they just belonged on it.

Ron, I machined it myself, I 3D modeled it on CAD & CNC machined it at work out of a solid bar of stainless steel I have the program & I also made an electrode so I can spark erode one, heres a close up pic. John

I just put the plates on for the show, they are the originals off my comet, look better than no plates, can`t drive on the road with them here, I have JK429 for when its registered. John

That explains it. I think the black and yellow plates look perfect on there. That must spark some questions at a show. I assume you don't drive the comet with them on there either?

Wow that looks even better up close. Now you need to make more.

the plates have been in the cupboard since I first finished the Comet 26yrs ago, I took it to the show a week before I got it registered with them on then packed them away, I can make another badge but I have to take this one off, I forgot to measure the hole in the tailgate so I can machine the back, I was in a hurry to finish everthing off for the show, I machined the back & the retainer washer in a manual lathe, & the back edge has to be hand fitted to the curve of the tailgate too. no worries Mike, you do a great job, it would be easier if I was closer, then I could get to the gathering & easier to get parts instead of having to make everything. John

If you have to recurve the back side to fit the tailgate curve, doing one should be good for all years from 60 to 65 I would think. Actually on a 65 and probably a 64 the area where the emblem attaches is raised up as when the same tailgate is used on a wagon it is the same and the window crank or electric sw mounts there and it is flat on the back side not curved. I would assume earlier years were the same as they used the same crank handle or sw body.
If they are flat now what's the possibility they could be used for center caps on wheels? I'll bet they would look pretty cool.
How did you attach yours? Should be a larger cone shaped washer on an original steerhead emblem. Just needs one stud in the center to mount. that's what mine has.

Its been a while since I updated the build, the Comet Ute was fully engineered & registered at Christmas just in time to take to one of the largest car shows here, since then I have been clocking up some miles on it sorting some bugs out, its done about 1500 miles now, it still has to go on the dyno for a final tune as last time the clutch was not good enough & it slipped when it made boost, it drives good & gets up & goes when you want, a couple months ago one of the biggest magazines here did a story on it, heres a link, some good pictures of it, I haven`t given it a run down the track yet I will wait until it has the final tune, its running on 10lbs boost at the moment, & then I will start driving it everyday to work, I take it in every now & then & have been driving it every weekend to sort out any little problems.
