I tried the search but it was well, comprehensive. So, any running 215/70R15's on a 64 with 3.75 back spacing??

My GUESS is the fronts would rub when turning sharp because they're too tall, but it is just a guess. a 215/65 or 215/60 would be safer.
this is a good tire calculator for specs & comparisons. it tells tire specs & gives an overlay view & side by side view comparisons
https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?ti ... -215-70r15
it says a 215/70/15 is nearly 27'' tall,
another thing to consider is the height that you will run the car. Joe runs a taller tire than me by having more height. my car is lowered in the front & I see signs of rubbing the inner fenders & driver side torque box with shorter tires than his. we have the same 15x7 TTO wheels with 3.75'' BS. these are 65's but it's the same ballpark.
Those tires on GMsnowball's 64 look good. Pop's look good. maybe we should all put our tire sizes, wheel sizes & backspacing in our sig pics!

That's a good idea. Wheel and tire combo questions are frequently asked, and having that info under our sig pics may help some guys out as they look for a wheel and tire combo that has proven to work on at least ONE car.poboyjo65 wrote:maybe we should all put our tire sizes, wheel sizes & backspacing in our sig pics!

I'm gathering this info for a family member. I don't want to tell them the wrong size, I would feel terrible. That being said I'm sure they'd like the staggered look. Now I'm thinking maybe 235/60r15 (15x7) on the rear and 215/65 up front. I'd love to have a conformation on the rear.

The 235/60r15 (15x7)3.5BS work on the rear of mine. I have fairly new springs on the rear, so it sits a little high, but I've got about 3/4" clearance between the tires and the wheel lips. The 215/65r15's on the front are a little tight and occasionally scrub, but I'm putting that off to 52 year-old springs that I plan to replace. In hindsight, I'd have probably been just right with 205/65r15's on the front. No regrets on the rear, though.

Exactly! I had to look back on an earlier thread to be sure I was quoting the right sizes. Saved me a trip to the garage, though.poboyjo65 wrote:it might save some of us a few trips out to the shop because we cant remember what size we have when someone ask!

I would like to answer but mine has skinny 14" tires on it now with the stock wheels, they would never rub anythingLip Ripper wrote:64 guys?
What fits the '65 "should" fit the '64, I know you are looking for confirmation on that, sorry I can't be more help.
See Ya,

I have 275x60-15's under the rear of my '64. It took a few modifications but I wanted the widest radial and did not want it
