Re: My Comet for sale
Dang Joe I hate that it has come to this but we all do what we have to do & I'm so glad you are still with us & I will keep you both in my prayers. At that price it should sell very fast. I'd call it priced to sell fast. I can post that link on CC facebook & a couple other FB pages. I certainly hope...

Re: Mecum Dallas
Is it just me or are the front tires bigger than the back? what ever the case, the stance is not appealing to me. But I imagine this combo would have a crowd at shows.

Re: My Cyclone build
Car looks great! I like the magnetic sign/sticker idea! :D I may borrow that someday! It'd probably be a good idea to take it off now & then to clean both mating surfaces. I used some of that material to cover my cowl vents. I didnt take it off for a few years  & some sitting in the sun...

Re: Car Lift and Garage
Looks great Jim! Sometimes my aim is bad too. I got what feels like a piece of detached bone in my thumb joint from a similar mishap. I put up a couple lifts a few years ago,I cant remember for sure but I think I just drilled thru the post base & beat the anchors in as I went. I was basically workin...

Welcome aboard! nice score finding a comet without much rust, though it still wouldn't surprise me if it needed a hole or 2 patched in the floorboards. you really cant tell until you pull the rug & stab around with a screwdriver because they rust from moisture getting inside the cabin through poor w...

Re: frame dimensions
pic of my comet rails on top & bottom 2 pics are of member bigdans falcon. probably cant tell on a phone but if you look closely on a bigger screen you can see the arch on the comet rail is stretched back. the falcon rails turn up at a steeper angle. mercury did this to move the rearend back 5'' for...

Re: How To Narrow A 9" Ford Rear End:
cool ! you're welcome. After reading your post again I see that you said you didnt have the backing plates so yes sorry they would need to fit the big bearing housing ends. sorry I misread that. But same as with the shoes you may be able to find out if a certain car had the big bearings in a similar...

Re: How To Narrow A 9" Ford Rear End:
When I was putting mine together I was looking for a drum with the smaller 4.5'' bolt circle to fit the larger backing plates that came on my truck housing that I had narrowed (which had 5.5 bolt circle). I was able to find one thanks to the specs on the bendix site,(I think it was bendix, been a whi...

Re: This one followed me home.
wasn't my favorite body either but from memory I think it rode better & was more comfortable. the early body styles made my back ache, & I was a kid at the time. seats were too boxy or something, like they didnt lean back enough. I think the right set of wheels & tires helps the looks of these cars. ...

Looking good Jim! color flows good with cabinet colors.
Is this the one that had one portable post that can be moved? how does it do that ? does it have wheels or what? & bolts I presume instead of studs.
btw you have a couple dirty spots on the floor,,,,I wouldn't eat off those spots !

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
My base for considering front coil spring change was that the right front of the car is 3/4 inch lower than the left. Ok that could be from something else in the entire suspension but I had a gut feel it might be a weak or broken coil spring? Chris I had the same problem. also I knew the car had be...
