Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

Loving your work Lou! Especially the brake lines. I'm collecting parts to swap to dual master at present, but scared of bening/flaring etc... Thanks Warren, Brake lines aren't that hard to do. Make sure you cut the line square and prep the end before you flare. This tool here preps the end of line....

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

Hey, Lou! Are you going to weld clips to the housing to snug up the rear line? Just wondering if it's necessary, also considering factory practice. Thanks for all of the cool pics! Really like the proportioning valve location. Gave me an idea  Joe Not going to weld clips to housing. Might glu...

Re: 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente Build

.................. I believe 65 went to the switch on the pedal and wondering it that will work. Depends on the size of the pin on the brake pedal, if it is short like this one the65 switch won't work. https://i.postimg.cc/L5NYZFGL/IMG-8757.jpg If it is long like this one then the 65 switch will wo...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

It all looks great, Lou! 8) What steering gearbox and gear ratio did you use? Wow, Lou! Not many guys with rear axels you can see your reflection in. And making sure both switches, LOCATED UNDER YOUR DASH, are black. That's a testament to your pride in workmanship and attention to detail. Ji...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

Ran into a small problem this week when I went to install the brake light switch. It fits on my old brake pedal but doesn't work on the new pedal. The new pedal has a shorter pin for the MC pushrod, and a groove cut into it. Picture of new pedal with 3/4" tape for reference. https://i.postimg.cc/L5N...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

Thanks Fred! Moving along did my brake lines. Bought couple rolls of 3/16 SS brake line and fittings from inline tube. This way I can cut to length and won't have to do unions on the rear line. I have a flaring tool from Eastwood that just makes great flares every time. LOVE this tool, quick, easy, ...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

I have my Battery in the trunk, so had to do some extra wiring and add a remote shut off switch(if I want to race it) . I wanted to keep everything on the pass side of trunk. After mounting my batt box I made bracket to mount my remote shut off. https://i.postimg.cc/HnccVB52/IMG-8682.jpg Also wanted...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

I'm surprized you didnt drill more holes to the sides of the original one & make them sequential & use leds ! they look great! window frames look great too! kinda gives it a different look from other hardtops. I like how the divider bars between front & back glass disappear ! :) Not really into the...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

Looking great, Lou 👍 Hard to find those fins for the lens w/o a broken stud or two. Joe Thanks Joe, I bought new for the car but have a few old ones that are still good Lookin' good, Lou! The lens with two refracting sections looks like its a good 3/4" shorter than the other lens. Are there two dif...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

Some more updates. Since I updated the wiring I needed to do something about the tail light sockets. Replaced the back up light lens with a red lens and going to have all dual filament bulbs. The hole for the corner socket is larger than the hole for the tail light socket. The dual filament universa...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

Figured it would be easier to make a few smaller updates instead of long ones. Been having a lot of fun with putting my Comet back together, this has always been one of my favorite parts. I got all new glass this year at Carlisle. https://i.postimg.cc/t44cccvn/IMG-8077.jpg After taking out old glass...

Haven't updated for awhile, finished the pieces for the shifter hump. https://i.postimg.cc/vmHyyJZ9/IMG-8479.jpg Pieces installed on car. https://i.postimg.cc/y8KBQgqL/IMG-8473.jpg Ran out of Dyna Mat but had some kilamat left over from another job, so I used it.
