Re: Gathering parts for a V8 swap

Update: I think the issue has been found. New guy at the parts house gave me the wrong block mounts  Here's a little info for anyone else in the future searching. Concerning block mounts: Turns out that there are different height mounts. There's a lot of good info about the years and style cha...

Re: Gathering parts for a V8 swap

Hello! Bringing this back from the dead so I can get this motor in. Quick update on the Comet project, it got put on the back burner for a while I worked on finishing up my prior engagement with the Camaro  but I did manage to get the Granada disc brake swap done and also the 8'' rear end swap ...

Re: headers???

what about headers for a Thunderbird application? Buddy of mine picked me up a set he saw craigslist while I was on vacation. Sent me a message saying he bought em for me since I wasn't here and I owe him $75

They have a kick out on two of the tubes where the center link runs though them.

Re: Granada swap - hit a snag

I think I found my answer. The Mustang center link is too long. The center link is falcon/comet specific.

Great write up with pics here: http://www.cometeastcarclub.org/PDFs/St ... pgrade.pdf

Re: what is the offset and back spacing on a 65 comet? HELP!!!!

I know the back space for the 64 is 4'' just measured it last week. Comets are pretty tight in the wheel wells.

Re: Granada swap - hit a snag

Ooooo that looks sweet  nice and clean too  :) I actually have all that already but mines more of the junkyard's finest quality. I just need to order the brake hoses. I noticed thought how they say nothing in those kit instructions about the steering linkage and mention nothing about V6 ...

Re: Granada swap - hit a snag

Just to clarify before I start buying all this, do I need to get a 65 Mustang center link? I have the Granada outer tie rods and adjuster sleeves. So my shopping list and correct me if I'm wrong: 65 Mustang V8 center link (drag link) 65 mustang V8 pitman arm with the smaller 1'' sector shaft 65 must...

Re: Granada swap - hit a snag

Are your inner tie rods 6 cyl or V-8? It's been a while since i put mine together, but i thought i used the granada outers? I know there is an outfit that makes tapered bushings to use on the smaller tapered pins, but i didn't need to use them. I had all new 65 mustang V-8 inners, sleeves, drag lin...

Granada swap - hit a snag

Hey guys looking on some advice which route to go with swapping to Granada discs on the front in the 64 comet. Spindles swap okay but there is no way the tie rod ends will match up. I know I need to use the outer tie rod end from the Granada to fit the taper in the spindle but after some comparison ...

Re: Finally starting a thread for the 64

Looks like a pretty good place to start. What color are you going to do? For what it is the project is at a great starting place. Believe it or not we only paid $700 for her and that was with an extra set of studded snow tires and a spare! Also came with a second grill and headlight bezels :mrgreen...

Re: Finally starting a thread for the 64

I picked up some donor parts from a 77 Granada, small block 302, C4 tranny, 8'' rear end with 3.05? gears (open diff), and the disc brake set up and spindles. The motor and trans before http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m134/coolball/1964%20Comet/2012-07-20_19-27-50_412.jpg The bores look good but ...
