That’s a Mustang tag number. Strange it has the lever for a cable throttle.Sugarmaker wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 8:49 pmFolks<

We took the Comet for several short jaunts today as roads were dry.
Those trunk panels look very good!

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
What’s the number on the carb? I did a little poking around and it looks like your carb might be for a full size Ford with a throttle cable instead of linkage (the cable connected to that ball stud you’re not using). On those the kick down rod was attached directly to the carb, whereas a Comet had t...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Your Comet looks great! Congrats on first drive! Ive also noticed that when I transition from a modern car to my Comet or Falcon I think “what the hell is wrong with this thing!??” But after driving it awhile all is well. It’s just old with slow steering and ancient suspension design and geometry. I...

Re: New Member - ‘63 S-22 Convertible
Hi all, I’m glad to find this forum and have owned my ‘63 S-22 convertible for about 9 years. I bought it site unseen off of eBay. I delivered it to my wife’s graduate school graduation and surprised her with it. Instead of flying home (we were not living near her school at that time), we drove it ...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Great looking Comet! Bummer about the console lid emblem. They were reproduced awhile back and like most everything else Comet specific they went away. I should have bought 20 of them  I think your best bet is keep an eye on EBay, a nice used one may pop up. I just did a pretty thorough search...

Re: Welcome to 2024
My goal would be to cruise all 2448 miles from Chicago to Santa Monica. Problem is, its 800 miles from my house to Chicago. Then I've got to get back home from Santa Monica. Might take a bit of planning and a whole lot of time. Jim Yes that would be cool! Me and my son are making a t...

Re: Welcome to 2024
Yessir there will be plenty of pics!
GoPro? Hmmm hadn’t thought of that but yes! I’ll get some live action going with that too.
Should be fun. It’s not a long trip, maybe a couple hundred miles…but lots of cool landmarks commemorating the Old Road.

Re: Welcome to 2024
Happy new year everyone! Im hoping to get my Comet out more this year and more track time in the Falcon would be awesome too! Planning a Southern California Route 66 drive with a few buddies soon. It’ll be my Comet, a 68 Torino fastback, a 68 Mustang coupe, an FFR Cobra and an ‘03 (I think) 5 speed ...

Re: 64 Comet 289 column shift auto ..exhaust maniflds?
For stock Ford exhaust manifolds it’ll have to be trial and error. The width of the Comet/Falcon engine box is very narrow. Im using a Maverick driver side manifold and a 351W manifold on the passenger side and it doesn’t leave much room side to side. Headers are tight as well. I have Dougs headers ...

If you’re doing a concours resto the book is invaluable. Agree with Joe on this (Mannel book is a must have). And I see that it's now available in pdf form. which should weigh less than the book by a long shot ;) Right now is a great time to buy the book from the website. You’ll get a physical book...
