Re: 1965 "Merc-o-matic" transmission

Sounds like I'd be better off with a rebuilt unit that comes ready to.go..by the time I chase down the parts for the swap, I'd save money, not to mention who knows how much life is left in the old trans!

Re: 1965 "Merc-o-matic" transmission

Hey guys, forgot to mention, this is the transmission that the car came with. It's still bolted to the 200ci six. Not sure of the bolt pattern still. I.ran across a great deal on a 289 today, so just wanted to double check, that trans should bolt right up, correct? Thanks! Brandon

1965 "Merc-o-matic" transmission

Hi guys , wondering if the Merc-o-matic, essentially a c4 as I've read, will bolt up to later model stock 302 engines? Are they capable of handling the increased torque and horsepower? Should I just get a modern c4 and save the hassle? Just want to get the car on the road with a stock 302 while buil...

Re: Too much flow?

Well, Ive discovered my mistake in reference to the heads. I was reading the flow numbers for the COMPETITION ONLY stage 3 ported heads. Duh! It says right on their site that unported or mildly ported stage 1 heads on a properly accesorized smallblock should make 500-550hp. So, as cast, the intake r...

Power range between 2200-6500 rpm1.6 rockers. Víctor jr. Intake, 650 carb, and 3.90 rear gears. Should make a decent amount of pump gas...

Too much flow?

Im looking at a set of 64cc Canfield stage 3 ported and polished aluminum heads, which they Say will put me at 11.12:1 compress...

Re: Small Block performance in a 65

My plan so far is a 331, 9:1 compression, quickfuel 750 carb, forged internals. Canfield stage 2 heads.Monster built aod trans w/3200 stall converter. I'm going that way, so thatvwhen funds are available, I can add a paxton novi1200 supercharger. Anyone care to give advice on the proposed setup? Doe...

Hey Guys, Im sure its been covered, Just cant find the thread. Im wanting to swap in a 8.8 Or 9 inch rear into my 65. Is there a direct bolt in donor with correct length? If Not, what is the brake surface to brake surface measurement? Also, will 17x7 wheels fit ok with 4.50 backspace? Widest tire on...
