Re: front suspension upgrade ideas
Hell yeah, I concur that the Shelby drop works wonders! I did this mod on a '67 Falcon that I used to enter in competitions, along with a roller-bearing conversion on the idler arm, and photos from the track PROVED that the front wheels stayed exactly where they were supposed to be. There was much m...

Re: 2-pack Paint At Home-
Hi guys! Thanks for the responses; the paint is the modern stuff that requires a catalyst (like Araldite glue, 2-part mix). It's going to be a clear-over-base deal, the base is 1k, that is, requires no catalyst, but the clear top-coat is 2k, meaning it requires the catalyst to set it off. Some of th...

2-pack Paint At Home-
Hi guys, Well, its been a few months since I was first welcomed onto this site, and now things have settled down here at home, I have a little time and money to donate to the '64 Comet. I have a buddy who is pretty well versed in spray-painting cars, and he's offered to assist me (and guide me, and ...

Re: Removing wheel studs from a disc brake.
I'd be inclined to just go to the nearest auto shop and buy a new set of studs; after all, the old ones have seen plenty of duty over the years. They can be drifted out as mentioned, I have been known to salvage them in the past this way also, but if you want to save damage to the nuts as well, try ...

Re: 2015 Kustom Nats Phillip Island
SASSY, the car with the brass gauge setup is a '62-63 EJ model "Holden". I rarely mention this, but my first road-registered car was one of these. A dreadful old heap of sh!t, but it got me around until I could afford something better. "Holden" is the Australian arm of GM, which would explain why yo...

Re: a minute of silence please gauge bezel down
:D Hey Mark! Thanks for that info! My '64 has been converted to RHD (for Australia) at the firewall and front chassis rails, but the dash is still LHD, and I'd been thinking about how to go about transferring the LHD bezel over to the right, and what to do about the flat edge. I think the Mustang be...

Re: Do we have a Joke Thread here?
Jack and Jill were both employees at the local tomato cannery. With the competition of cheap canned tomatoes from overseas, the company had to cut it's running costs, so the CEO told the Foreman that one employee from each section had to be laid off. Sorry, but times are tough. This put enormous pre...

Re: Do we have a Joke Thread here?
Two fellas are out doing a bit of varmint culling. One has a stock 12 gauge, the other had a sawn-off .410. As they're climbing through a strand-wire fence, the .410 goes off, peppering it's owner fair on the willy. The poor bugger screams, undoes his pants, and sees blood squirting out in all direc...

Re: I have a confession to make but it comes with a lesson
Ah, Tristan. Confession is good for the soul, and there's no great shame in owning a Chrysler/Dodge product. At least it does not bear the Mark of the Devil (the Bow Tie). I've owned 3 Valiants in my time, and I have to say, they were all good, solid, reliable cars. One had the 225 slant 6, a...

Re: Very cool 60 Comet for sale
hehehehe... For what it's worth, I don't think Roy's comment would hurt any feelings. Me, I prefer the look of my '64 over the '60, but hey, thats just one bloke's opinion. That '60 for sale is one sh!t-hot motor vehicle which I'd be proud to own. :) As a Ford guy, I've listened to years' worth of G...

Re: Mechanical dual point advance
Wow, what a can of worms this one can open! I've read some fascinating tech articles over the years regarding this subject, and on the 'net, it often ends in flame wars (not that the good people here would resort to that). Probably the easiest way to put it is that once the carby is wide open, vacuu...
