Re: 66 Cyclone Dash wiring question

Hey there Len, I have a 66 Comet, and I don't know if the wiring is the same as the Cyclone, but here's a schematic that I have from the shop manual that might help for your first question.

Re: 1966 Caliente Parking Brake

Blei, I have 3 of them from 68-69 Fairlane/Torinos. They are identical to 1966-1967 except the brake release rod is straight on '66-'67 Comet/Fairlane. The '68-'69 Torino/Fairlane/Montego release rod has a bend to clear the different lower dash. If you want one I'll take $20 plus shipping. One has ...

Re: 1966 Caliente Parking Brake

Fairlaniac: Thanks for the image from the shop manual. The manual I have only has a mustang assembly diagram. I had been looking for a Comet specific one for a while. I appreciate it. It'll certainly help piece together this brake system. I would be very interested in one of those pedal assemblies. ...

1966 Caliente Parking Brake

Howdy everyone. In an attempt to make my Caliente street legal here in Texas, it needs to have a parking brake. Thankfully, because of it's age, the rest of the restrictions to get it "legal" are fairly minimal. However, when I bought the car last year it didn't have a parking brake in it. From my r...

1966 Caliente 2DR Hardtop

Hello all. I've recently became a proud owner of a 1966 Mercury Comet Caliente. After having it for a couple of weeks I thought I would start a thread documenting the work I'm gonna put into it. My shop manual just came yesterday, so now I'm able to piece together a little history on the car: Assemb...

Re: New member - 66 Caliente

Welcome to the Forum--from another '66 Caliente owner. I've picked up a lot of hints and valuable info in the short time I've been on this forum. BTW, besides mine, you're the second owner of a '66 Caliente that's got a 302 installed-- I wonder why? Ford didn't start producing them until 1968, but ...

Re: New member - 66 Caliente

I've given up trying to attach the pics through the forum, so I'll just post the links to the pics I have on my website. Here she is from the side. The rims/tires will be the first thing I'll be changing. http://www.robotbraintrust.com/1966-Comet/66Comet.jpg And here she is from the front, I'm on th...

New member - 66 Caliente

Hello all,

New member here. Just got done driving home my new-to-me 1966 Mercury Comet Caliente.

It's got a 302 V8 with a three-speed tranny that's a blast to drive. Of course, it still needs a ton of work but I'm excited to begin a new project and glad I could find this place.
